We took a harbor cruise yesterday. Some interesting stuff out on the water including a Coast Guard icebreaker in dry dock and a new ferry under construction.
Victoria Clippers
Bulk cargo
Time for maintenance and a new ferry.
New York Tug
Container ship
Snacks when we got back to the apartment.

including a Coast Guard icebreaker in dry dock
“Hey...so...you moor around here? I’m just in town for a couple weeks. Kind of a dry spell at the moment. Can I buy you some diesel?"

This gives me an idea...
I think I’ll duplicate your idea here in Norfolk, VA. Credit for the idea will go to you, of course.

British flag design influence?
Union flags on an American vessel. Canadian I could understand but American. Saying that, how many people don’t make a connect to the design and that of the British flag.

I’d suggest an Oppo meetup, but I have no idea what my wife has planned this weekend.

Works for me! With the number of cities worldwide that Oppos live in, this could become The Next Big Thing™.

I'll gladly submit one for Birmingham. It will be WAY better than anything Denver or Phoenix has to offer. #nowater

We were there Sunday. Nice day to see the planes.

Or Las Vegas, or Tulsa, for that matter. I meant to say, ‘harbor cities’ - whoops! LOL

They run to Victoria, BC, so the Brit flags.

Would be fun, but we are flying out Friday.

Actually, the more that I think about it, the challenge to find big boats is even tougher for us. But they’d have to be on a trailer, so we’re talking 50' range, at best. Fun fact: Alabama has more coastline per capita than any other state. Lots and lots of reservoir lakes. Pretty much everyone I know is only one person removed from a boat and/or a competitive waterskiier or fisherman.

I never picked up on that, despite living in Alabama for two years. Great motorcycle riding to be had near Lake Martin though, and some larger-sized craft could likely be found out that way.

Yep — Martin is the biggest, and a great weekend spot where I spent a lot of weekends in college. Funny thing is everyone just says “the lake” which could mean almost any of them. My wife’s family is all originally from the little towns around Lake Martin. It was a huge economic boon to all those little towns when the lakes were created. Instant wealth.

Its kind of cool to see what's out there. The Seattle cruise was pretty fun.

Okay I see, Canadian, I understand. Lol.
I like it.

What time did you take the picture of the ferries in the top pick?

2:30 I think.

It is an American company, but only one of their ships is actually registered in the United States. The other two are flagged in the Bahamas and Curaçao. But, they run on Washington-British Columbia routes, so British flag livery.
About 15-16 years ago, they did briefly charter the Canadian flagged Queen of Burnaby and run it as the Princess Marguerite III on the Seattle-Victoria run.

Cool nice one, thanks.
It’s always good to see the Union Flag used elsewhere.
Especially the state flag for Hawaii.
